NASHVILLE, Tenn.-”The Real Me,” penned by multi-Dove Award winning Curb singer/songwriter Natalie Grant, has been recorded by Clay Aiken on his best-selling new RCA/19 Recordings release, On My Way Here. The album debuted at #4 on The Billboard 200 for the week of May 24.
“‘The Real Me’ reflects my own journey of self-discovery and what God has shown me about who He is and who I am,” Grant says of the ballad, which was featured on her 2005 watershed release, Awaken. “God has a divine purpose for our lives, and there’s such comfort and peace in knowing that even when our lives are a mess, He sees the incredible beauty underneath.”
Last month Grant became the first artist in 13 years to win the GMA Dove Award for Female Vocalist of the Year three consecutive times. Her critically-acclaimed seventh recording, Relentless, released in February and was the highest debut and top album by a female artist on both Nielsen SoundScan’s Top Christian Albums and Christian Retail charts. With a formidable foothold at mainstream media and radio, Grant is a featured speaker and performer on the Women of Faith and Revolve Tours and is an outspoken advocate for victims of international human trafficking.

This is such a heart wrenching song and beautiful. It’s one of my favorites from Clay Aiken’s new CD. Gorgeous but sad.
When I heard this, I was like…someone else singing Natalie’s songs? And a GUY, at that? But I saw his performance of it- it was really good! I think he did the song justice…even though Natalie’s is still the best

I am a fan of Clay Aiken and I was so happy to see that he had recorded your song “The Real Me”. I loved it then and I love it now. Thank you for this song. When Clay sings it I feel the emotion that you meant to be there. I hope everyone gets a chance to hear him sing this song, it is amazing, and my favorite on the CD.

“The Real Me” is a powerhouse of a song. It is my favorite from Clay Aiken’s album “On My Way Here” I did not know your music before hearing this album, but will certainly see to it that I hear more of your music. I do believe Clay’s version is stunning and heart rendering. Love it!
The Real Me is a beautiful song, and you and Clay both sing it so well with so much emotion. This and Lover All Alone (which Clay Aiken wrote) are my two favourite songs on On My Way Here. It is so great to hear some meaningful eloquant lyrics for a change!
I really love this song, too. I have a request, though. Could you put up the cover of his current CD, “On My Way Her” instead of using the cover photo from his 2006 CD, “A Thousand Different Ways.” If someone were looking for the new CD, they could find it more easily with the new cover.

Being a Natalie fan long before I became a Clay fan I was excited and nervous to hear that Clay would be singing “The Real Me” as it is my favorite song in the entire universe and I think Clay did it justice, it’s such a wonderful song!
(Although my favorite lyric wasn’t in Clay’s version that’s okay I like having it reserved just for Natalie’s version :D)

Clay’s recording of “The Real Me” was what first brought your music to my attention. The lyrics were so powerful and hit home to me in a way I can’t describe. I have been a Clay Aiken fan for years, and now I am a full fledged fan of Natalie Grant too. I have bought “Awaken” and “Relentless” and I intend to buy the rest of your albums at a later date! I absolutely cry during “My Hope Endures”…. if I can ever stop crying when I hear that song, I’ll sing it in church.
